Love this machine, and the service from HCS
"Purchased the Quick Mill as an upgrade from a machine with a pressurized portafilter after much online sleuthing, weighing a lot of factors, including heat up time, possible learning curve, budget, size, etc. So far, my wife and I love the machine. It’s similar enough to our old one that her morning prep is minimally changed and the coffee is noticeably more delicious, and with the pressure profiling, I have a fun variable to play with and experiment. The two main complaints I’ve read online are about the steaming wand lacking adjustability to fit a steaming pitcher easily, and the lack of clearance under the portafilter for a scale and cup. I would largely agree with the latter and mildly agree with the former. Being judicious about how much you fill your pitcher with milk will largely mitigate the clearance issue, and for the cup clearance I put my scale right into the drip tray without the grate. It works fine as a stopgap until I get a bottomless portafilter which should give more clearance. But for the most important part, I don’t think I’ve pulled a shot that wasn’t much more tasty than in our old machine, even when tweaking grind fineness and having extraction times varying quite a bit as I learn. It heats up really quickly, the side water access is great, the temperature can be lowered in under a minute when switching from steam to espresso, and the steam wand creates a beautiful microfoam easily and quickly. Last note, the staff at HCS was really helpful and knowledgeable when I was ordering. So far, I have really been happy with this purchase and the purchasing process."
